MetaPost interprets the MetaPost language and produces PostScript pictures.
The MetaPost language is similar to Knuth's METAFONT, but with additional
features for including TeX commands and accessing PostScript.
MetaPost was written by John Hobby.
Printing the documentation
--------------------------
The documentation for MetaPost can be found in the :MetaPost:Docs: folder.
The main documents are only supplied in DVI format: mpman.dvi contains the
User Manual and mpgraph.dvi describes a macro package for drawing graphs.
Before printing mpman.dvi, you need to select MP... and open manfig.mp.
This will create various manfig.<number> files. Start up OzTeX and
print mpman.dvi.
Before printing mpgraph.dvi, select MP... and open mpgraph.mp.
There is also a LaTeX document in mpintro.tex. Run examples.mp through
MP first, then run mpintro.tex through OzTeX a couple of times, then
print mpintro.dvi.
Further notes
-------------
- PostScript files created by MetaPost do not have a PICT 256 resource.
When previewing a DVI file that includes such a file, OzTeX will draw a
rectangle showing the bounding box. If you try to print the DVI file on
a non-PostScript printer then OzTeX will generate error messages.
- Unlike Unix versions of MetaPost, OzMP does not support the inclusion of
troff commands.
